Depart Nairobi early morning, driving through the Great Rift Valley with a stop at the scenic viewpoint. Continue to Narok town for a brief rest before entering the Maasai Mara National Reserve. Arrive at your camp for lunch, followed by an afternoon game drive as the animals become active in the cooler hours. Return to camp for sundowners and dinner.
Wake before dawn for an early morning game drive when predators are most active. Watch lions, cheetahs, and leopards on the hunt as the savannah comes alive. Return to camp for breakfast and leisure time. After lunch, embark on an extended afternoon drive exploring different sectors of the reserve, including the Mara River where hippos and crocodiles reside.
Optional early morning hot air balloon safari (additional cost) with champagne breakfast upon landing. Later, visit an authentic Maasai village to learn about their traditions, housing, and way of life. Afternoon game drive focusing on areas not yet explored, seeking out any remaining Big Five sightings. Evening bush dinner under the stars (weather permitting).
Enjoy a final sunrise game drive, making the most of your last hours in the Mara. Return to camp for a hearty breakfast before checking out. Drive back to Nairobi with a stop for lunch en route (own expense). Arrive in Nairobi late afternoon, with drop-off at your hotel or the airport for onward travel.
July - October
The Great Migration is in the Mara. Dry weather means excellent game viewing as animals gather at water sources.
January - February
Excellent wildlife viewing with fewer tourists. Great for predator sightings and bird watching.
March - May
Long rains bring lush landscapes. Lower rates and fewer crowds. Some roads may be challenging.
November - December
Short rains, green scenery, newborn animals. Good value with decent game viewing.
